    Principal dancer with The Royal Swedish Ballet. Began her ballet studies in Stockholm and graduated from the Royal Swedish Ballet School. She joined the Royal Swedish Ballet beginning a dance career as one of Sweden’s most celebrated ballerinas.

    She has performed the leading roles in many classical ballets such as Odette/Odile in Swan Lake by Natalie Conus and Sir Peter Wright, Kitri in Rudolf Nureyev’s Don Quijote with Julio Bocca, Aurora in Sleeping Beauty by Beryl Grey, the title role in Natalia Makarova’s Giselle, Gamzatti and Nikia in La Bayader by Natalia Makarova, Coppelia by Marc Ribbaud, Cinderella, Lise in La Fille Mal Garde by Sir Frederick Ashton, Mary Vetsera in Mayerling, Julia in Romeo and Julia by Sir Kenneth MacMillan, Tatiana in Onegin by John Cranko, Miss Julie by Birgit Cullberg, Solveigh in Peer Gynt, Hermia and Hyppolyta in A Midsummer Nights Dream by John Neumeier, La Sylphide by August Bornonville, Nutcracker, Esmeralda in The Hunchback of Notre Dame by Pär Isberg. In 2006 Krzysztof Pastor created the role of Isolde for her in the fullength ballet Tristan.

    Marie’s technical brilliance and artistic bravura are showcased in neoclassical and contemporary works by some of the world’s most renowned choreographers such as Nacho Duato, Mats Ek, David Dawson, Alonso King, Glen Tetley, Geroge Balanchine, Twyla Tharp, William Forsythe, Ulysses Dove, Glen Tetley and Jiri Kylian.

    She has been a guest artist with  the Royal Danish Ballet, Semperoper Dresden, Estonian National Ballet, Arena di Verona, as well as in Romania, Japan, USA,

    China, Hungary, Ireland and Venezuela and France.

    She has received prizes from two of Swedens’ biggest newspapers as well as the Philip Morris Ballet Flower Award.

    She was nominated for the 2005 Benoise de la Danse awards for best female dancer, a ballet gala held at the Bolshoi Theater in Russia.

    In 2004, by appointment from the King of Sweden, Marie was promoted to Royal Court Dancer, the Swedish equivalent of Danseuse Etoile.
